The default situation leads to immediate publication of results in the open access ECBD. The user has the option to request a ‘hold’ period of up to 36 months to delay the publication of his/her data to allow: In-depth characterization of hits for publication in a scientific peer-reviewed journal and preparing/filing of patents (possible, but not encouraged). All foreground and background IPR stays with those who have contributed to the invention.
